This is a pillow case I am making for Aidan. I will post finished pictures later. The dinosaur and name measure 9.5" long, and 5.25" wide, so the image is not as large as it appears. The picture is a close up of the design. I really have not done anything special for nap time stuff at school. I know this is bad timing since this is his last day of school, but this will be for next year. Maybe I will get really creative and make him a quilt for school as well. Hello everyone. It has been a long time since I have posted anything. I am sewing for my kids. Okay, the short version of the long story. My sewing machine is not the greatest in the world. Lately, the stitches have been getting really sloppy, so I felt it was time to invest in a new machine. Well, I couldn't get something simple (lol), so I bought an embroidery sewing machine. This is my first attempt at monogramming. I'm playing with fabric and stabilizing material, so I'm going to be working the bugs out. For instance, I don't like the puckering around the letters. Okay, it's not puckering, it looks like the fabric is permanently wrinkled. The picture looks worse than the actual monogram. So, thanks for stopping by and checking out my new toy. I was recently asked to come up some ideas for a butterfly tea party themed invite. Here is my take on it. For bithday invites, I like to make post cards. Hello everyone. I am experimenting with this new technique I discovered on http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/. You ink your cuttlebug embossing folder on one side, put white card stock in the folder, and run it through the machine. Here, I was trying to make the swirls look like the ocean. Give it a try. It's a neat trick.

I don't think this image came out very well. The text is stamped on vellum and placed over the Rose Red stamped heart. It looks much better in person. It is supposed to give the card a shadow effect. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Well, I was in the mood for a purse. I have seen many great purse projects that are boxes or fold out cards. But I haven't seen many simple purse cards, so I decided to make one. This is a simple A2 sized card in the shape of a purse. I used my handy cuttlebug to emboss the circles and added pretty paper for the purse flap. Hope you enjoy.

Snow Day

We had about 5-6 inches of snow last night. School is starting late this morning, so we had to go and play in the snow. Aidan was very excited, he is learning about weather in school. Avery did not know what to think, this is the first snow she has every seen. We all had a great time until Avery caught a snow ball in the face from Aidan, and it was all over. In the house we go, tears and all.

I finally broke down and bought a cuttlebug. This is the best machine ever. It embosses and die cuts. I cut the dress out myself, but I used the cuttlebug to emboss it and then used chalks to color the raised areas. There are some new dies called nestablilities, that I am very interested in. The cuttlebug accepts other brands of dies, so it is a versatile machine. Until next time....

Well there must be something in the water. Everyone seems to be having babies right now. This onesie card is perfect for baby showers. It so happens that some of my friends and relatives are expecting. I made a couple of these boy baby shower cards. I got the idea from Lauren Meader, and her tutorial is below. This card is made out of stampin up punches. I do not have all of the stampin up punches, so I improvised with the Creative Memories circle cutting system. This card is so easy to make and very cute.

I found this coffee mug with the spoon in the dollar bin at Target. The flowers are rub-ons that were on clearance at the local craft store. I love rub-ons. You can put them on anything and they are not very expensive. This project took all of 5 minutes to do.

I know it's not Christmas time, but I wanted to make these for a change of pace. I actually made the crayon kids ornament for my son's teacher last year, but I'm late on starting the whole blogging thing. Since Easter is around the corner, I tried a bunny ornament to see what it would look like. Next, I want to experiment with differents colors for these ornaments. I will post what I come up with.

Originally, I intended to use this stamp set for scrapbooking puposes. After using the stamps in baby books, I realized they would make cute cards as well. Yes, I still have not completed baby books for my 2 children (they are 4yrs and 2yrs old). I love the foot prints, they look so real. It looks as though I actually stamped a babies foot. I just had to make a card. I really don't know anyone who is pregnant right now, but I'm prepared.

It seems as though my son is always going to birthday parties lately. I always need cute boy birthday cards (all the parties have been for boys). I bought this stamp set because it was being discontinued and I had been eyeing it for a while. Also, all my stamps are of flowers and girly stuff, so I needed something for boys. This is perfect since my son loves cars. I used kraft, glorious green, and cream confetti card stock. The stop light is made from 1/4" circle punch.

Elmo Birthday

My daughter is going to be 2 this week, so she insisted on having an Elmo Birthday. The dimensions of the card are 4.25" x 5.5" so you can get 4 out of one 8"x 11.5" sheet of paper. When I first discovered this stamp, I wanted to use it for scrapbooking. I have 2 children, a boy and a girl. This stamp sums up how loving they are towards each other (for now anyway). But with my cousin's upcoming wedding, I need shower and wedding cards too. I thought this would be perfect, since I don't have many wedding or shower stamps. First, I embossed the stamped image with black ink and clear embossing powder. This allows the image to look more defined and even in color. I added some designer paper, paper flowers, ribbon, punched stars in 2 sizes, and stamped the background with versamark and white ink.

V-day Mailbox

Here is the Valentine's Day mailbox, that I made for my son's teacher. These are very easy to make. I found the idea on http://www.splitcoaststamper.com/. It's basically a 4x12 inch piece of designer paper that is wrapped around and then you decorate the ends. I chose to put peppermint hot chocolate inside as a gift. Unfortunately, you can only find the mailboxes in the Target dollar binds between January and February. So, if you find these, you should stock up. There are only 3 colors, red, white, and pink. With a little imagination they make excellent gifts for all occasions.
